How to make Sushi Rice?

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup sushi rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 1.5 tbsp rice wine vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp granulated sugar

METHODS:

1. There is no need to rinse the rice because you want to retain as much starch as possible. Personally, I rinse it once to remove anything from the surface of the rice.

2. Place rice into a pot, add water. and cover.

3. Boil the rice on high heat until the water is bubbling then turn it down to low heat until all the water has absorbed.

4. Turn off the heat (the bottom will be more moist than the top), use a fork to fluff the rice (to help redistribute the moisture).

5. Add wine vinegar and sugar and mix thoroughly.

6. Cover the rice with the lid and leave it to cool down to room temperature. Make sushi rice on the same day and should be left to cool naturally. Do not refrigerate sushi rice!
