American Style Biscuit Recipe

INGREDIENTS:

  • 500 grams of plain flour
  • 110 grams of unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of salt
  • 1.5 tablespoons of baking soda
  • 350ml double cream

METHOD:

1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees.

2. Mix flour with baking soda, sugar and salt in a large mixing bow.

3. Cut butter into small cubes and rub in butter with the flour mixture until breadcrumbs start to appear.

4. Add double cream and mix until the flour mixture turns into a dough form. If it is still dry, then add more cream until a dough is formed.

5. Transfer the mixture to a lightly floured service. Roll out to a thickness of 3/4″. Cut the dough with the biscuit cutter.

6. Grease the baking tray and place the cut out biscuits onto the baking tray. Brush the top of the biscuits with double cream and bake in the oven for 25 minutes until golden brown.

Served perfectly with chicken and gravy! Or you can enjoy it with something sweet.
